When Ethan Shaw is killed in a car accident his twin brother Jerry’s life is turned upside down. He arrives home to find his apartment full of illegal firearms, surveillance equipment and drugs and a strange unidentified woman caller warns him that the FBI is on the way to arrest him. From the moment he answers that first phone call, Jerry (played by Shia LaBoeuf) is locked into fatal game of cat and mouse that drags a number of other innocent strangers into the mix, including a single mom named Rachel Holloman (played by Michelle Monaghan). Together with the help of FBI Special Agent Thomas Morgan (played by Billy Bob Thornton), this charismatic duo must repeatedly carry out life threatening orders of an anonymous caller and fight to stay alive in the hopes of protecting their loved ones and ultimately discovering the identity of the unknown female voice at the end of the line.
This movie was an unfortunate shame. After the huge success of “Transformers” and “Gone Baby Gone” this film’s stars, Shia LaBoeuf and Michelle Monaghan, had the potential of creating yet another blockbuster. Especially since Billy Bob Thornton and Steven Spielberg were also involved. Not to mention an intriguing and suspenseful story line that promised to keep audiences on the edge of their seat from beginning to end. And don’t get me wrong, the non-stop action of “Eagle Eye” keeps viewers constantly guessing. Unfortunately we were trying to guess what the heck was going on most of the time. It was almost as though “Eagle Eye” tried to be too big and too ground-breaking in the technological advances that the movie suggested. The entire thing just seemed to be too unbelievable.
